Want to get MORE from LinkedIn?
Learn about LinkedIn from the PEOPLE who invented LinkedIn User Training!
Integrated Alliances (IA) brings you timely and valuable information, tips, tricks and insights to social media and LinkedIn users who want more business, more sales, more qualified candidates, more available time. They may even need (and find) a job as a result.
See LinkedInsider Video from IA Founder Mike O'Neil
One could make a pretty strong case that Integrated Alliances is the world leader in LinkedIn and social media training for business professionals. With 6,000 trained in 300 group sessions, there are not many, if any, in our league. Could anything be more refined? Quite frankly, NO.
In 2009, it isn't being ON LINKEDIN that gets you ahead, it is being HIGHLY SKILLED ON LINKEDIN. It is IA and ONLY IA that can get you all the way there.
When IA INVENTED LinkedIn user training over 3 years ago, there were less than 2 million users, there are now more than 35 million. Our effect on people's lives is tremendous and 230+ LinkedIn Recommendations from satisfied customers only scratches the surface.
Most people only think that there is a little LinkedIn training available. Well, the IA LinkedIn training list below should dispel that. While there are now some other LinkedIn training options out there, none even come close to our 40 LinkedIn Hands-on Workshops, LinkedIn Hands-on Webinars and LinkedIn Live networking events that IA offers in a single month!

New LinkedIn End User License Agreement

Hello,
LinkedIn has some new developments in the LinkedIn End User License Agreement (EULA). Things that were common are now forbidden. Worse yet, very few people know about this and users are subject to having their account terminated.
You cannot have e-mail addresses, phone numbers, addresses or other "confidential" information in your profile.
Here's a good one "LinkedIn may terminate the Agreement for any or no cause, at any time, with or without notice, which shall be effective immediately or as may be specified in the notice."
Or, how about this "LinkedIn may limit the number of connections you may have to other users and prohibit you from contacting other users through use of the Services."
All of this is on top of LinkedIn now limiting the number of groups that ypou may belong to down to just 50. If there were not 100,000 groups that might be reasonable, but a search on the word "marketing" yields 3,020 results and there is no way to tell which are big ones or the small ones without opening each up individually.
Why are there so many? Because LinkedIn approved so many.
The EULA can be found on the bottom of each LinkedIn page under the text link “User Agreement”. Have a nice read for yourself and see how this smells to you.

Hello,
There is a great new video on LinkedIn done by the video basics producer extraordinaire Lee Levefer. It is called “LinkedIn in Plain English”. Lee has produced videos on social networking that we use in our workshops and webinars and they have been very well received.
This video is a great primer even for advanced users as it lets us all explain “LinkedIn in Plain English” to others. I highly suggest you view this video and all the others he has on his site www.commoncraft.com. On the humorous side, take a look at the Zombies video!
From Wiki’s to Blogs and everything else in between, Lee is a great explainer of these technologies.

LinkedIn Profile Fields

Hello,
In the course of conducting my LinkedIn training workshops I often discover useful things that I feel I should share. Some are simple and some are not. Below are some interesting things I think you will find helpful in your LinkedIn usage. We've gleaned these "Golden Nuggets" from completing over 100 workshops and webinars. So, here are some LinkedIn Profile tips.
Recently, I showed LinkedIn users how to put special formatting characters (│ ▌ ◊ ► ◄↔ ♦ •) into their profiles to make them more interesting and more readable. Now you see a lot of them. We teach people how to use them in our Integrated Alliances (IA) LinkedIn Hands-On workshops and webinars and include them in the MS Word templates we provide.
So, just how much "Real Estate" do I have to work with on my LinkedIn Profile?
I had a project recently to find out just how much space we have to work with in each field on LinkedIn. It lets you know where the lines are drawn and that can help a lot in making you most visible. We always suggest that you create and maintain your master LinkedIn profile text in MS Word and then cut and past the text into LinkedIn.
Picture – 85 pixels by 85 pixels (after cropping) using a professional photo Headline/Header – 110 Characters Summary – 2,000 Characters (about 2/3 of a printed page) Specialties – 500 Character Company Name – 90 Characters Job Title - 100 Characters Job Description – 1,000 Characters Education Activities and Societies – 500 Characters Education Additional Notes – 1,000 Characters Custom Web site URL Tag (Other) – 30 Characters Interests – 1,000 Characters Groups and Associations – 1,000 Characters Honors and Awards - 1,000 Characters Contact Settings – Lots, but no way to effectively tell how many - really
A fully optimized Profile is one of the keys to being found and helps you find new opportunities using LinkedIn. So, we've developed the IA LinkedIn® 101 Workshops and Webinars to teach you how to craft an extremely effective LinkedIn profile, how to begin building your network, how to avoid the numerous LinkedIn pitfalls, how to search for people and resources and how to BEHAVE on LinkedIn so you don't get in trouble. The IA LinkedIn 201 Workshops and Webinars are mostly focused on getting you to 500+ connections, LinkedIn Answers and LinkedIn toolbars.
