Happy Independence Day

Many, honestly most, of our fans and followers are located in or are from the United States.  Tomorrow, July 4, as we prepare to celebrate our Independence Day, Mike and I wanted to take a few moments to share with you how we’ll be celebrating and ask you to share your plans below.

First, we’re going to be with family and friends. It’s appropriate to spend a day celebrating with those you love. But we won’t have everyone we love with us, so we’ll use cool technology like Skype and other virtual meeting technology to “Phone Home” with smiles on our faces. When we make those calls to our loved ones on the East Coast, since they are likely still without power, it’ll be by cell phone… perhaps we can use face time on Mike’s iPhone to “Get a Little Closer”.

Next, we are taking Mike’s son (14) to Summerfest in Milwaukee to  experience the energy of a live festival concert… emotional memories like these last a lifetime and make an indelible impression on youngsters.  One of our favorite movies is Almost Famous.  In the DVD extras, executive editor of Rolling Stone magazine shares that its the music that we listen to from 14-24 that inspires us and shapes us for the rest of our lives. Mike was 12 at his first concert: Elvis. I don’t remember how old I was but I wanted to be Evie Tournquist. What was your first concert experience?

We’re meeting friends… business friends at Summerfest: Tim Hagen, of Sales Progress, is the business adviser turned friend who is responsible for getting us in the gate.  And we’ve been mutual fans with Joe Heuer, Rock and Roll Guru, for a few years now… ever since our first book, Rock The World with your Online Presence came out. This will be our first opportunity to meet in person, listening to Aerosmith!

After crashing for the night, we’ll head back to Minneapolis to Brendan’s grandparents for a few more days of memory building and bonding before we settle back into the routine of work… the work of our passion. But we couldn’t let this day go unrecognized, because of what it means, and we couldn’t let this post go out to the world without also recognizing graphic designer, a man who won our hearts and has become a very dear friend in the process: Andrew Cameron of Graphic Breeze.  Most of what you see of our visual image recently is the result of Andrew and Mike working together to dust off, polish, shape and create a consistent look and feel everywhere we have a presence online.

Need a fabulous designer? Want samples of his work?  Take a look around. Just about everything you see is a result of his creative handiwork.  Here’s a video portfolio highlighting more of his creations. He’s easy to find and contact. Look him up. Tell him his favorite Rockstars send their regards and thank him for the cool “IN”dependence Day Graphic!

So, what are you waiting for? Networking is great, but say hello then get back out there and enjoy some summer “IN”dependence Day fun!

Between the ages of 14-24 ay well here goes the line- up > First concert Ted Nugent when I was 14 at the Long Beach Arena in California , then at 15 it was CWMF ( California World Music Festival ) with battle of the bands winner Loosely Tight followed by Boomtown Rats, Toto, Reo Speedwagon, The Outlaws, Cheap Trick ( crowd favorite ) and finally Ted Nugent ( was not received well that night , so Ted yells that he would like to spit in all your faces and left the stage with his guitar blaring feedback ) . Skateboarded in empty pools to Aerosmith and Black Sabbath. Went to first of 89 Dead shows when I turned 18, saw Ozzy, Ratt, Metallica, Dio, saw Jerry Garcia band and Jerry Acoustic, Neil Young, won tickets off KLOS to see Moody Blues, oh yeah before I forget the Go-Go’s played at my high school dance when they were just breaking out big, David Bowie, ZZ Top, saw Bob Dylan, If I had to rate best concert without a doubt would be the Ventura County Fairgrounds Grateful Dead .  And last but not least, Tell Mike that when 2 days after one of my birthdays, I was being driven home after a day at a skatepark in Reseda CA. ( Watch the movie Lords of Dogtown, Stacy Peralta’s dad owned the skatepark in Reseda) the car we were driving in was surrounded by Hell’s Angels riding by with Cops behind them , lights on and on the radio came the words I will never forget : Elvis Presley has died
