Tonight was the Front Range Bloggers Meetup in Denver. The group alternates meeting between Denver and Boulder each month and I’m glad it was close! When I asked about starting to blog daily, Dave Taylor, in his professional and experienced wisdom stated: “just do it”. He mentioned not talking about blogging. Good advice! I realized I had done that several times this week. But I still consider this a journey that I’m chronicling.
But here is today’s winning pearl for you. When you start a new venture, or anything outside of your area of expertise, find others who are 1) where you want to be and 2) who are taking the same journey.
A great place to do that is on Meetup.com! We consider this a place where online networking helps make face-to-face networking a reality for many. There are Meetup groups for everything!
When Mike and I started venturing into WordPress, we searched Meetup in the Denver area for WordPress Meetups. There weren’t any, but there were 18 people on the waiting list. So we started one! The Denver WordPress and Social Media Meetup was born and immediately populated with 20 people! It’s not that we have all the knowledge of WordPress, or even a lot, but we know how to bring people together. We partnered with people who do have knowledge and look for people who have knowledge to contribute to present each month.
By bringing people together who are interested in the same topic, or by joining those groups, you find value in the friendships we make where we can each fuel the other’s success.
So, in the spirit of sharing and helping each other, leave a comment. Where do you meet-up with people who can help fuel your success?
