…of course, sliced bread comes to mind, however, whichever great invention you choose, there’s no denying that this is the best update in a while. I’ll even call it a real upgrade.
As you look at profiles of connections on LinkedIn, you will now see a new “Save (Name)’s Profile” to the right of the profile picture. Once you save the profile, the same location will show “Saved to Profile Organizer”. (There is a handy “New” icon in front of the link.)
Quickly add connections to your Profile Organizer
Once you save the profile, below the links to save you see a new dialog box that include “Add (Name) to a folder; Add contact information; and Add a Note (1,000 characters max with a countdown feature). When you add to a folder, they conveniently start you off with “Folder 1” and “Top Prospects”.
In addition to adding folders, you can quickly manage the name of a folder when you are adding someone to it by clicking the name of the folder rather than the selection box in front of it. Once you add folders, you can manage which folder(s) a person is included in by clicking on “(Name)’s folder:”
You access profiles saved to this new feature on the submenu under contacts. The list is sorted by most recent. Although I don’t see a logical place to select other options, I’m confident that will be coming soon. On the right, you can select “View All”, “Uncategorized”, or “Archived”.
In the profile organizer, you have options on the right including your list of folder. There is a “manage” button on the title bar of the dialog box where you can edit folder names, delete folders, or add new ones. Beside each folder name, you will see the number of how many profiles are in each folder in parenthesis.
I particularly like being able to see my contacts segmented by type and to have quick access. With over 11,000 first tier connections, whenever I click on my regular contacts folder, it takes a while for them to load. I access contact information on LinkedIn several times a week, sometime several times a day, so this is a very welcome upgrade. I say well done!
