The very cool thing about writing a post a day–and waiting until the VERY end of the day to do it, is that you can wait an hour and get a fresh start on the next day! This is Sunday though, don’t I plan to take weekends off? The truth is, I don’t know. I typically spend Sundays in calm and relaxing activities that I can’t enjoy the rest of the week. And I love to write. I find it relaxing and invigorating at the same time.
Mike and I are hard at work…and I do mean HARD… on our next Rock The World book due out this Fall. You’d think I’m getting my fill. However, just as in the social media world, there are multiple outlets and platforms from which to write, to speak, or to communicate.
You might consider these blog posts related to my Facebook presence. They are much more about me personally while at the same time helping me connect to new friends.
My regular online writing on IntegratedBlog.com or RockTheWorldBlog.com, guest writing on someone else’s blog, or posting for the Denver Examiner is more like Twitter. I do it more often and from a variety of different voices.
The books then would be more like LinkedIn: my professional presence that is built and carefully developed over time.
So here’s the lesson for today. In social media, just as in the real world, you need multiple outlets o communicate, build relationships, and find partners and resources. Develop a presence on one platform; get good at it; and then move to others to expand your reach and to stretch your voice. In doing so you will find greater richness in the experience as well as in the results.
