For those of you reading this, you may notice that the “daily Winning blog post” started on June 24 and today is June 26 (11:12 pm to be exact). It’s not that I didn’t want to write yesterday, or even today, it’s more that two days completely almost got away from me before I a) remembered and b) sat down to do it! Here I am, the LinkedIn Diva, a sassy, saucy business woman with so much in my head that I want to get down on paper, and so much to share, and so much inspiration, and I miss the 2nd day of my journey!
Wow. Does that give you permission to quit? Not a chance. If you signed up to the challenge with me, keep on reading: this one’s for you!
The fact is, we all set goals for ourselves and we often set high expectations to go with those goals. High hopes; high dreams; high bars. Does missing a step mean we should quit? Absolutely not! I’m sure there will be other challenges as we go through this process together. But remember, social media (and life for that matter) is more successful with consistency and authenticity. Being who we really are.
I don’t think there’s a way I can fix a date on when I actually posted unless I wrote a draft and scheduled it for later publication, which is a tool I totally intend to use! but even if I could change the date of a post to make it a day earlier, that’s not what this is about.
I started finding success with finding cool new friends and building relationships on facebook when I started keeping a regular video journal of my travels when I decided to cut my first DVD. People wanted to follow the story, see what came next, and learn from my experiences as several of them were getting ready to embark on a similar journey.
When I first started on Twitter, it was a similar story. I followed people who I knew or who were talking about things that interested me or who lived near me. I talked to them and tried to figure out how people were interacting and communicating on Twitter (does anyone use DM’s live anymore?).
On LinkedIn, it was when I really engaged in the platform daily and sincerely that I started to see success. I found the work I was looking for and the opportunities I wanted when I started connecting with people, communicating with them, and responding to them.
I said it earlier: the point is that in social media, just as in real life, consistency is the first key to success.
I really appreciate Debi Davis and Tony Denson being the first people to accept the challenge and to post a comment on the first post. Seeing your goals put a smile on my face as I sat down for post #2 on day #3.
